A graduate of the National University of Theatre and Cinema “I.L. Caragiale” Bucharest, and holding a master’s degree in acting from the same institution, Ștefan Mihai performed, between 2016 and 2019, several important roles in both short and feature films, as well as on the stages of theatres in the capital, Tulcea, and Pitești. In June 2019, he won the Best Actor Award at the “Buzău Iubește Teatrul” Festival for the role of Percinet in “Romantioșii”, directed by Vlad Cristache. In 2019, he also began his collaboration with TSC, performing on the Constanța stage as Johnny/Micke in “Let the Right One In”, a Swedish thriller. This was followed by the role of Șmulik in “Backyard Games”, directed by Diana Mititelu, and later by winning the 5th edition of the DbutanT Festival, securing a permanent position in the Constanța State Theatre company. He can also be applauded on the TSC stage as an improviser in the interactive show “Comedy Match”, directed by Dragoș Muscalu; as the outcast in “The Two Gentlemen of Verona”, directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanu; as Justin in “The Crime on Lourcine Street”, directed by Vlad Cristache; as Guy in “Totally Nude”, also directed by Cristache; and as Kika Jovic in “The Belgrade Trilogy”, directed by Erwin Șimșensohn. He performs two of the most demanding roles in “Seaside Stories”, directed by Radu Afrim, demonstrates exceptional vocal skills in “10 Things We Lost at the Mamaia Festival”, directed by Elena Morar and Gabriel Sandu, and brings to life the jester Feste in “Twelfth Night” by William Shakespeare, directed by Andrei Șerban.

During the International Festival of Performing Arts ATELIER - Baia Mare, 29th edition, in the male section for the Best Young Actor Award, among the three nominees was also Ștefan Mihai, for the roles of Șmulick/Lawyer from the same show.
At the 2024 UNITER Awards Gala, he received a nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category, alongside the renowned Miklós Bács – who won the award, Emilian Oprea and Gabriel Răuță.
Asociația „Radu Beligan” în parteneriat cu Teatrul de Comedie și Scena.ro, cunoscută revistă de artele spectacolului, i-a decernat lui Ștefan premiul „Radu Beligan” în cadrul celei de-a patra ediții a acestei gale.
Aflat la a doua nominalizare consecutivă la această categorie, Ștefan Mihai și-a adjudecat premiul UNITER 𝘊𝘦𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘪 𝘣𝘶𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘪̂𝘯 𝘳𝘰𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳 pentru rolul Feste din spectacolul 𝘈 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘢̆𝘴𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘻𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦, în regia lui Andrei Șerban, în cadrul Galei din 2025.
