Constanța State Theatre at Major Festivals This Autumn 2025

Constanța State Theatre began the autumn season with two participations in well-established festivals on the Romanian theatre scene and is set to appear at the 35th edition of the National Theatre Festival in Bucharest.

Constanța State Theatre – Festival Appearances and Program

The 2024–2025 theatre season has concluded at the Constanța State Theatre, marking the beginning of a period of festival participation, with several productions from the TSC repertoire on tour.

The first tour took place in Suceava, where the Constanța theatre was invited to take part in the "Matei Vișniec" Theatre Days Festival with the production Incendies by Wajdi Mouawad, directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanu. The performance, held on June 5, was very well received by the audience, earning three minutes of uninterrupted applause and multiple curtain calls.

The next tour stops for the Constanța State Theatre are in Reșița and Sibiu. On June 24, the show An Island by Ada Milea, inspired by Gellu Naum, will be performed as part of the New Wave International Theatre Festival organized by the West Theatre of Reșița.

Cancellation of “Tandrețea” Performances

Due to logistical issues, we are forced to cancel the four performances of the show Tandrețea scheduled for May 10, 11, 14, and 15. These will be rescheduled at later dates, which will be announced in due course.

Spectators who have purchased tickets for these performances will be refunded as follows: either to their account, for those bought online, or at the Ticket Office, for those bought in person.

Teatro Lúcido at the Infinite Shore, directed by Radu Afrim, has its official premiere on April 5

The official premiere of the play Teatro Lúcido at the Infinite Shore by Radu Afrim will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM. This is the third production directed by Radu Afrim at the Constanța State Theatre (TSC), following Scarred Hearts by Max Blecher (2006), and Seaside Stories, a collage of contemporary Romanian prose (2022). With Seaside Stories, TSC received two UNITER Awards, including the Award for Best Performance of 2022, along with four other nominations.

Constanța State Theatre has received six nominations for the UNITER Awards, the most prestigious honors in the Romanian theatre industry, which will be presented at the annual gala.

A unique collaboration between the Constanța State Theatre and the Constanța Bar Association to promote legal education through art

The Constanța State Theatre joins the Constanța Bar Association in the national project "Be a Lawyer in Your School!" with the aim of bringing legal education closer to young people through an impactful artistic and educational initiative. Initiated by the National Union of Romanian Bar Associations (UNBR), the project involves volunteer lawyers in educational activities for school and high school students, designed to develop critical thinking, foster healthy legal reflexes, and promote civic responsibility through innovative and engaging methods.

Ada Milea & Bobo Burlăcianu Concert organized by the Constanța State Theatre on National Culture Day

To celebrate National Culture Day, the Constanța State Theatre is organizing an extraordinary concert on January 15, 2025, featuring artists Ada Milea and Bobo Burlăcianu.

The “Concert in 2” will take place at the recently renovated Studio BCR Hall, located at 2A Ion Lahovari Street, starting at 7:00 PM.

The Constanța State Theatre hosted the official reopening event of the Studio Hall on Friday, November 29. This essential space for the cultural scene in Constanța recently underwent extensive renovations.

The modernization was made possible by financial support amounting to €200,000 from Banca Comercială Română (BCR), the main sponsor of the project, joined by PPC Energie SA and Rețele Electrice Dobrogea SA as partners.

Actor Lucian Iancu has passed away at the age of 84

Last night, actor Lucian Iancu, a great star of the Constanța stage and an undeniable name in the history of Constanța and national theater, passed away.

The Constanța State Theatre team stands by the grieving family and mourns the loss suffered by the artistic community in Constanța and the theatrical world.

Lucian Iancu performed over sixty roles on the Constanța stage, ranging from Ianke in Take, Ianke and Cadîr by Victor Ion Popa to Palaestrio in Miles Gloriosus by Plautus, directed by Silviu Purcărete, Agamemnon in Legends of the Atrides, directed by Silviu Purcărete, the Father in The Game of Life and Death in the Ash Desert, directed by Gheorghe Jora—broadcast by Romanian Television—Lunardo in The Boors by Carlo Goldoni, directed by Dominic Dembinski, Mr. Papillon in Rhinoceros by Eugène Ionesco, directed by Laurian Oniga, Jupân Dumitrache in A Stormy Night, directed by Gheorghe Jora, Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman, Ulysses in Penthesilea, directed by Cătălina Buzoianu, Dron in The Seagull by A.P.
