The director of the State Theatre of Constanța, Vlad Cristache, graduated with a degree in Theatre Direction from the I.L. Caragiale University of Theatrical Arts and Cinematography (UNATC) in Bucharest in 2009, and then pursued a Master's degree in Contemporary Theatre Direction until 2011. He is one of the most prolific young theatre creators, having directed productions in Bucharest (Comedy Theatre, National Theatre Bucharest, Excelsior Theatre, Mic Theatre, Nottara Theatre), Piatra-Neamț, Ploiești, Brăila, Tulcea, Constanța, Sibiu, Pitești, and Arad. Vlad is also passionate about scenography, designing the sets and costumes for many of his productions, which have been nominated and awarded at the most prestigious festivals in the country. In 2011, he was nominated for Best Debut at the UNITER Awards for directing the production of "Peer Gynt". His production of "Spring Awakening" at the Mic Theatre received three nominations in 2017, including for Best Production. The play "True West" by Sam Shepard was selected for the official competition of the 2019 National Theatre Festival. The production "Romantics" by Edmond Rostand won three awards at the 2019 Galați National Comedy Festival, including Best Production. At the State Theatre of Constanța, he directed "Let Me In" by Jack Thorne, an unconventional production that has been well-received, as well as a reading production of "This Child" by Joel Pommerat.
