CRISTINA OPREAN was born in Craiova, where she studied piano and voice at the Arts High School and graduated from the "I.L. Caragiale" Institute of Theatre and Film Arts in Bucharest, under the mentorship of professors Petrică Vasilescu and Mihai Mălaimare. She began her career at the Craiova Puppet Theatre, where she worked for a year as a puppeteer, winning first prize at the National Puppet Theatre Competition. However, in 1986, she left puppetry behind and joined the theater in Constanța, where she built a reputation as a beloved performer, admired by audiences and highly regarded by directors. In addition to her many varied roles, played with exceptional talent and professionalism, Cristina Oprean Ciorei developed a unique style of performances alongside her husband, Constanța conductor Radu Ciorei. As a narrator in symphonic concerts, she delivered 12 world premieres in Romania as well as in the United States, Argentina, Portugal, and South Korea, interpreting texts by Marin Sorescu, Lucian Blaga, Fernando Pessoa, and Luís de Camões. She is a model of creativity, professionalism, and altruism for her colleagues, earning applause for her performances in "The Magpies", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Titanic Waltz", "Eutopia", "Dionysos", and "The Marriage of Figaro".
