Six UNITER Award Nominations for Constanța State Theatre
Constanța State Theatre has received six nominations for the UNITER Awards, the most prestigious honors in the Romanian theatre industry, which will be presented at the annual gala.
The production The House of Bernarda Alba by Federico García Lorca, directed by Diana Mititelu, received four nominations: Best Performance, Best Direction, Best Actress in a Leading Role – Mihaela Velicu as Martirio, and Best Lighting Design – Cristian Niculescu.
Mirela Pană was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performances as Nawal and Jihane in Incendies by Wajdi Mouawad, directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanu.
Ștefan Mihai received his second consecutive nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of the fool Feste in Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, directed by Andrei Șerban.
For the past five years, Constanța State Theatre has consistently appeared on the UNITER Awards nomination list, and this year, it received the most nominations. The nomination jury consisted of theatre critics Daria Ancuța, Doru Mareș, and Maria Zărnescu.
The 33rd edition of the UNITER Awards Gala will take place on Monday, May 26, at the "Amza Pellea" Hall of the Marin Sorescu National Theatre in Craiova, marking the 175th anniversary of the Craiova theatre.
