Sexual abuse DEBATE in theatre following 'Games in the Backyard'
Students, parents, teachers, actors discussed for almost two hours after yesterday's performance of ”Games in the backyard” on the 9th of March at the Constanța State Theater – the Studio Hall.
The debate, attended by over 100 spectators, was moderated by Emil Tatu, a lawyer and TV host.
The topics discussed, inspired by what the audience had just seen on stage, included sexual abuse of teenage girls, the libertine behavior of young people and its psychological causes, the degree of responsibility of both perpetrators and victims, ways to prevent rape, family-based education for both girls and boys, conditions that enable sexual abuse, and many others.
The questions and remarks were numerous, reflecting the immense interest in these issues among all those who are or could be affected by them.
To the surprise of many, ALMOST EVERYONE present indicated, by raising their hands, that they were aware of at least one real case of sexual abuse, highlighting the magnitude of this problem within our community.
Constanța State Theatre will continue to organize such debates and invites all high school students in Constanța to watch the play Games in the Backyard, which will provoke thought and help them draw useful conclusions for their lives.
