SEAS 2024: The First Name

SEAS 2024: The First Name
Sunday, 21 July 2024

The performance The First Name, a production of the National Athenaeum of Iași, will be staged on July 21 at 9:00 PM at the Teatrul de Vară Soveja, as part of SEAS 2024.

The highly acclaimed play The First Name, written by French authors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, has been performed worldwide, and the film adaptation of the same title received five César Award nominations in 2013.
This performance is a sharply defined situational comedy that addresses various social and political issues, satirizing contemporary society. The plot revolves around the name chosen for an expected newborn, which coincides with that of a controversial historical figure, sparking a family conflict. What starts as a joke escalates into a series of comedic situations, unveiling secrets that strain the friendship between the characters.
The First Name, a bubbly comedy, subtly highlights the inner drama experienced by each protagonist, showcasing laughter as a free remedy available without a prescription. Laughter, a contagious tool, is presented as the best remedy for a crisis.
