ABOUT

International Program in Scenography is an immersive ten-day workshop organized by OISTAT Romania, bringing together artists from around the world. Led by international mentors, this program focuses on scenographic creation in site-specific multidisciplinary installations.

This exclusive program is dedicated to students and graduates from the realms of visual arts, performing arts, design, architecture, and scenography. It presents a remarkable opportunity for those passionate about international collaboration and the exploration of the profound connections between art, nature, culture, and the human body.

Our mission is to bring together emerging artists and established professionals, hailing from diverse cultural backgrounds, for an intense exploration of creativity. Through thoughtfully chosen themes, we delve into the role of design and its expressive values in reinterpreting local cultural heritage.

Following a successful pilot edition held in Ovidiu, Constanța, as part of the DbutanT festival, the International Program in Scenography has now evolved into an independent event. We continue our collaboration with the founding institutions, aiming to create a platform where artists can freely express their vision.

This year, our journey takes place within the breathtaking Roman Fortress, a recently renovated national archaeological site in Ovidiu. Embracing the unique characteristics of the location, the themes investigated and the installations created aim to promote and revalue the local heritage through artistic endeavors. Our objective is to promote and reinvigorate the local heritage through captivating artistic practice that seamlessly integrate with the site's distinct characteristics.

Participants are granted the freedom to express their artistic visions through multiple mediums like mural art, kinetic sculptures, performing installations, landscape design, new media art, video art or  augmented reality experiences.

The International Program in Scenography serves as a catalyst for dialogue, encouraging diverse perspectives on spaces of historical significance and their rejuvenation through temporary artistic interventions. It  invites creators to redefine limits, challenge norms, and reshape the artistic landscape.

Join us on this transformative journey, where artistic boundaries dissolve, and creativity takes flight. The culmination of the program will be on the 9th of September with the Art Fair Gala, an exquisite event opened to the public where they can admire or the artworks created during the program. Embrace this opportunity to unleash your artistic potential and be part of a global community that thrives on innovation and artistic excellence.
