SEAS 2024: The Miser

The performance The Miser, a production of the "Ion D. Sîrbu" Dramatic Theatre from Petroșani, will be staged on July 19 at 9:00 PM at Grădina Tomis, as part of SEAS 2024.

The famous story of a miser punished by those around him for his lack of humanity is presented in this show in a danced and parodic form. The characters in The Miser resemble oversized puppets, creating a kind of scenic minuet that amplifies the humor of the plot to the point of grotesque. Money becomes the driving force behind all actions, from Harpagon's desperate and ridiculous attempts to hide and guard his fortune to the pranks of others seeking to teach the miser a lesson. An elegant, refined, and delightfully enjoyable comedy.
