SEAS 2024: Cancún

SEAS 2024: Cancún
Saturday, 13 July 2024

The performance Cancún, a production of the Nottara Theatre from Bucharest, will be staged on July 13 at 9:00 PM at Grădina Tomis, as part of SEAS 2024.

What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation at the famous Cancún resort transforms for the couples Reme – Vicente and Laura – Pablo, married and friends for twenty-five years, into a moment of unspoken truths and secret desires, in a "what if..." game. How would their lives have evolved if their life partner had been someone else, if they had had a different career, if they had been happier making other choices? A subtle comedy of dialogue and situation, Cancún is also a meditation on how often a seemingly insignificant event can forever change the course of life. Can anything still change? Is a new beginning or a new love still possible?

"Cancún is a performance about the fragility of human relationships. About how relative and ambiguous happiness in a couple is, and in life in general. About frustrations accumulated over decades, which erupt violently in the present moment and in the imaginary worlds of each of our psyches. A bitter comedy about the disintegration of the most intimate emotional sensations, about how sublime, yet ridiculous, life itself is. Cancún is about all of us, sometimes face to face with ourselves." (Felix Alexa)
