SEAS 2024: Anthology of Disappearance

The performance Anthology of Disappearance, a production of the "Vasile Alecsandri" National Theater in Iași, will take place on August 15 at 7:00 PM at Casa de Cultură a Sindicatelor as part of SEAS 2024.

It's a game I never tire of—this game where I bring together texts born from the talent of writers who, apparently, have nothing in common. I received many texts where disappearance appeared. It came and went. I stuck with the texts where disappearance lingers. I spent long days with the actors sorting through short prose. Now we own a collection of disappearances. The most beautiful disappearances. Who needs it?
From the darkest disappearance (a little girl’s life in a village in northeastern Romania) to the most absurdly dated one (the disappearance of Ceaușist chicken livers into the bellies of certain citizens), the anthology we assemble before the eyes of the audience can anticipate, evoke nostalgia, haunt, and dishearten fans of the tangible when they’re told that only memory saves us from disappearance. (Radu Afrim)
